Taiwanese star, Lin Chi Ling (林志玲), changed from a renowned model to an actress. During an interview, she expressed her first movie was Red Cliff (赤壁), directed by John Woo (吳宇森), and recalled her debut acting was similar to going for an examination. Chi Ling said: "My first scene is to cry in front of everybody and the feeling resembles the director is testing me." Chi Ling added that her role model in reality was actually Maggie Cheung Man Yuk (張曼玉) who acted as Ruan Lingyu (阮玲玉) in the movie and said: "Acting as a lady in the legend should be everybody's goal!"
