ATV is over and it was assumed TVB had no problem to retain their artistes. However, many TVB artistes' contracts will be ending this year plus with the recruitment from another television station, TVB 'ah ge' and 'ah jie' were getting lesser. As her contract was expiring soon, TVB senior management, Virginia Lok (樂易玲) decided to retain Kate personally. Virginia offered to increase Kate's annual salary to $1.2 million and promise to custom made a role for her in new series, and this gave her an opportunity to become TV Queen. With many benefits offered, there was around 80% to 90% chance that Kate will renew her contract with the company. But Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣) who owned the same status as Kate, only had 1 new series, Limelight Years (華麗轉身), this year and it will start to broadcast in end April. Thus, Kate stood a higher chance to become TV Queen.
However, it was pointed that TVB will not assign new series to Kate as long as her contract renewal was pending. Since she had no series currently, Kate could only attend promotion campaigns for the series, Smooth Talker (以和為貴) and advertisement for Slim Beauty. In this new advertisement, Kate portrayed a wild image and wore a fiery red bra top and hot pants which revealed her waist and thighs. As she gained weight during Lunar New Year, Kate begun to go for dieting, exercising and even 'gua sha 刮痧' 2 week ago, in order to get rid of her 'bread' face and achieve thin thighs. She said: "In order to have beautiful photos, I went for 'gua sha' and lymphatic drainage earlier. This lasted for 3 days and resulted in bruises on my leg."
15% salary increment for Kate Tsui
Recently, Kate had been liaising about the terms for her contract renewal with the company. Although Sandy Yue (余詠珊), Catherina Tsang (曾勵珍), Virginia Lok lost power with their artiste department, but they managed to convince those female actresses who were on close terms with them to persuade Kate to renew her contract with them.

2 years ago, Linda suddenly lost favour with the company and had been relaxing for some time. During the peak of her career, she used to film 6 series per year but reduced to 1 or 2 series per year instead. Recently, it was pointed that the new series, Brother's Keeper II (巨輪II) will add in Grace Chan (Catherina Tsang's favourite) and Linda's role was changed to guest performer compared to main lead in Brother's Keeper series.
However, Linda did not detect any signs of danger even when faced with strong attacks from newcomers such as Grace Chan (陳凱琳) and Sisley Choi (蔡思貝). Earlier, she took advantage of her vacation to learn cooking from Steven Ma (馬浚偉) and only resumed working in mid month.
