Beijing Love Story Breaks the Box Office

Emperor Motion Pictures (英皇電影) new film Beijing Love Story (北京愛情故事) with leading roles Carina Lau (劉嘉玲) and Tony Leung (梁家輝) were released on Valentine's Day in Mainland China which broke the box office in a half a day with a record of 20 million yuan (equivalent to HK$25.5 million) surpassing the film Flying Swords of Dragon Gate (龍門飛甲). The film was released in numerous theaters across Mainland China on Valentine's Day with majority of the film's tickets purchased by ticket brokers and were resold at higher prices, showing the film's popularity.

Director Chen Sicheng (陳思成) held an event with 400 fans, in particular, one male fan stated the film gave him the feeling of  'holding hands and growing old together' (執子之手、與子偕老). After the event ended, there was a male fan who proposed to his girlfriend who accepted and expressed "Although he is not the most wealthiest but he is the one that loves me the most" Director Chen was moved to tears at the scene of the proposal and promised the couple that he would attend their wedding with his wife Tong Liya (佟麗婭)
and give the couple their blessings. Joey Yung (容祖兒) and Leo Ku (古巨基) who sang the film's theme song were excited to share the news of the film's box office success and they hope it will be the same when it is released in Hong Kong.
