It was rumoured that Christine Ng (伍詠薇) originally had a role in new series, Lord of Shanghai (梟雄), and many scenes with Anthony Wong (黃秋生) as well. However, she requested for additional scenes from film producer in order to compete with Myolie Wu (胡杏兒). TVB then withdrawed her from the series instead. As such, Christine accepted an interview and expressed that she was shocked and laughed upon knowing it. She said: "It is so exaggerating! They did approach me if I am interested in the role and this happens at an earlier stage. At that point of time, I have no idea Myolie Wu will be acting and why should I request for additional scenes?" Christine added that she approached the film producer once only.
When asked about being 'freeze' by TVB, Christine replied that she will be taking part in a stage play and applied leave from TVB long ago. She also emphasised that her relationship with TVB was pretty good.
